An employee at a FedEx facility in Menomonee Falls has been charged after witnesses say he fired a gun at another employee on June 2.
DeAnthony Leflore, 19, of Milwaukee, was charged June 3 in Waukesha County Circuit Court with a felony count of first-degree attempted homicide and a misdemeanor count of battery.
Leflore turned himself in to the Menomonee Falls Police Department around 2:30 p.m. June 5, according to a news release from the department.
If convicted, Leflore could face up to 60 years of prison time.
According to the criminal complaint:
Menomonee Falls police were called to the FedEx facility at N96 W14849 County Line Road at 4 a.m. June 2 for a report of a man with a gun.
When police arrived, a FedEx manager said Leflore had fled the scene on foot.
The situation began when Leflore arrived to work at 2:30 a.m. for his 3:30 a.m. shift. He said his badge was not working to get access into the facility. The manager was called and told him to go home because employees are not allowed to start work early. He said, “I’ll up on you.”
The manager told the security staff not to allow Leflore in due to his escalating behavior and asked Leflore to not report back to work until the following day.
Leflore arrived again at 3:50 a.m. and said his badge was not working. After the manager did not let him in, Leflore said he was going to force it and proceeded to punch the manager in the left eye.
The manager said she grabbed the defendant’s hood and dreadlocks and clinched tightly as he continued to punch her in the face area with a closed fit three more times.
Another manager separated them. Leflore subsequently went to his small backpack to retrieve a handgun and pointed it at the first manager.
The manager said as she ran back to the main building, fearing for her life, she heard two gunshots. She said she was not struck by the gunshots, but her face was swollen from being punched in the face.
Leflore has his first preliminary court appearance on 8:15 a.m. June 16. He is currently being held at the Waukesha County Jail.
