OXFORD – Oxford police have charged a Florida man in connection with a motel stabbing last week.
Officers responded to a disturbance at a motel in the 1500 block of University Avenue Friday, Sept. 5, and found one individual suffering from stab wounds. The victim was transported to the hospital for medical treatment. Authorities said the victim has since been released and is expected to make a full recovery.
Orlando Perez, 31, of Jacksonville, Florida, was detained at the scene and taken into custody. After further investigation, Perez was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
He remains incarcerated in the Lafayette County Detention Center.
