Fort Myers police were investigating a shooting that resulted in one death the morning of Sunday, June 8.
Megan Fuentes, public information officer for the Fort Myers Police Department, confirmed via email that a suspect was in custody.
The shooting happened in the 3000 block of Oasis Grand Boulevard around 8:50 a.m. June 8, Fuentes said.
That is the address of the Oasis waterfront high-rise condo tower off of Palm Beach Boulevard east of downtown Fort Myers.
Throughout the day, there was a heavy police presence in the area, and the police department posted on Facebook that its officers were investigating multiple scenes related to the shooting.

“We are asking if anyone witnessed or heard the shooting to please call the Fort Myers Police Department at 239-321-7700,” Fuentes said.
Lee County Sheriff’s Office joins investigation
The Lee County Sheriff’s Office said it was assisting Fort Myers police in their investigation.
“The Underwater Operations Unit has multiple assets and divers in the water assisting with their efforts,” a sheriff’s office Facebook post said.
The location of the shooting sits along the Caloosahatchee River.
