A student at the University of North Texas has vandalized materials from Turning Point USA following the assassination of the group’s co-founder, Charlie Kirk.
The UNT student approached a TPUSA table, gathered a pile of posters, and walked away – tearing them up, throwing them on the ground, and yelling insults, according to a video posted September 18.
“Go f*ck yourselves and burn in hell,” the student said.
Republican state Rep. Andy Hopper of Decatur posted the video online, which racked up over 28,000 views at the time of publication.
Nearly a week ago, a video captured UNT students mocking the activist and apparently laughing at a video of his shooting in the classroom.
“No matter what political beliefs are, we should not be cheering that someone got shot. He has a family,” the student recording the video interjected to no avail.
UNT denounced the behavior at the time and told The Dallas Express officials were considering potential Code of Conduct violations.
Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton wrote UNT President Harrison Keller on September 19, demanding answers about the school’s response.
Paxton pointed to numerous violations of school policy and said the student’s concerns to university officials went unanswered. He asked the school to expand its investigation to include the professor who “ratified that conduct by acting discriminatorily against the complaining student.”
“For too long, schools across the country have ignored complaints of misconduct against left-wing students,” Paxton wrote. “This lack of disciplinary action has reinforced a principle that such conduct is appropriate and, in turn, has contributed to radicalizing individuals to engage in reprehensible actions.”
UNT President Harrison Keller issued the following statement to The Dallas Express:
“I appreciate the concerns expressed by Attorney General Paxton. We take these and all allegations of misconduct by students or faculty very seriously. We expect UNT students and community members to conduct themselves in a manner that upholds the values and policies of the university.
We are currently conducting a thorough review of recent actions by a few of our community members. I am committed to ensuring UNT provides a safe learning and working environment for all of our UNT students and our community.”
Kirk was answering students’ questions at Utah Valley University on September 10, when a single shot rang out – killing Kirk, as The Dallas Express previously reported.
Immediately after Kirk’s murder, leftists celebrated. Ironically, this spring, Kirk denounced leftists’ growing “assassination culture,” blaming it on a protest culture that has tolerated violence for years.
In August, The Dallas Express discovered communist propaganda at UNT glorifying Luigi Mangione, the alleged assassin of United Healthcare CEO Brian Thompson. A Dallas branch of the Revolutionary Communists of America had recruited dozens of students just weeks prior.
