Less than a week after the fatal fire at Gabriel House in Fall River, the family of a resident has retained the legal services of Morgan & Morgan, the law firm announced in a press release.
In initial reports, nine people were killed and more than 30 hospitalized as a result of the July 13 fire.
“According to news reports, firefighters arrived on the scene to find heavy flames and residents of the facility hanging out of windows waiting to be rescued. Morgan & Morgan has been hired by one resident’s family to investigate the incident,” states the release.
Smoke and fire damage can be seen on the outside of Gabriel House in Fall River, Massachusetts, on the morning of July 14, 2025, after a fatal fire tore through the building.
“Morgan & Morgan has been retained to find answers as to why this happened. Our investigation is already under way, in which we’re examining if the facility was adequately staffed and provided proper training to staff, potential code violations, and possible failures of fire safety equipment, including smoke detectors, fire alarms, and sprinkler systems. We will also look at whether people were able to safely and easily exit the building. Our seniors deserve our best efforts. We are pursuing all avenues for justice and accountability for the potential negligence that may have contributed to a deadly and destructive fire that displaced roughly 70 people,” said Morgan & Morgan founder John Morgan and attorney Luke Mitcheson in the press release.
