Several local police departments in Pierce County are encouraging anyone with old or unused prescription medication to dispose of them at their locations for National Prescription Drug Take Back Day on Saturday.

This initiative from the Drug Enforcement Administration is a way to prevent medication misuse and opioid addiction from starting, according to the department’s website. Here are the police departments participating from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

  • Pierce County Sheriff’s Office’s South Hill Precinct: 271 John Bananola Way East

  • Puyallup Police Department: 311 West Pioneer Avenue

The Fife Police Department posted on X that they offer a secure drop box for residents to drop of unused or unwanted prescriptions during their lobby hours from Monday to Thursday at 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m at 3737 Pacific Highway East.
