AUSTIN – The W. Walworth Harrison Public Library in Greenville is among 37 public libraries across Texas awarded a share of $4.1 million in state funding through the Texas State Library and Archives Commission’s Library Infrastructure Facility Improvement Grant Program.
The grants, approved by the commission in July for the 2025-2026 cycle, will support broadband upgrades and facility improvements aimed at expanding digital access and services – particularly in historically underserved communities.
“TSLAC is proud to support the innovative work of Texas public libraries to expand services that respond to local community needs and address the state’s priorities of fostering educational and economic opportunities,” said TSLAC director and librarian Gloria Meraz.
The LIFI Grant Program funds projects that improve internet connectivity, update technology infrastructure and ensure access to digital resources for work, education and health monitoring.
The grant period begins Sept. 1 and ends Dec. 31, 2026. Funding is provided by the U.S. Department of the Treasury through the Texas Broadband Development Office, part of the Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts.
