The man reported his 27-year-old girlfriend had committed suicide, but Pierce County Sheriff’s deputies discovered a different story on Fox Island Sunday.
In statements on social media, a sheriff’s spokesperson said the initial dispatch call came from the 29-year-old man at 5:30 a.m. He said his girlfriend had killed herself.
Investigators responded to the scene at the 800 block of Fox Drive. They found the woman’s remains at the address. A lengthy investigation followed, according to the sheriff’s office.
“Detectives and forensics found evidence that was not consistent with a suicide,” the spokesperson said.
Detectives subsequently booked the man into the Pierce County Jail on suspicion of second-degree murder.
