One man was killed and another injured after a head-on crash on State Road 11 in Pierson on Thursday, July 3, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The accident occurred at 7:55 p.m. just north of State Road 40, FHP said.
According to FHP, a 2020 Nissan Kicks traveling southbound on S.R. 11 swerved into the path of a northbound 2022 Chevy Silverado that was towing a trailer.
The Nissan struck the front of the Chevy.
The driver of the Nissan was pronounced dead at the scene, according to FHP.
The driver of the Chevy, a 46-year-old man from Palm Coast, was transported with non-life-threatening injuries.
The crash remains under investigation.
This is the third traffic fatality in Pierson this week. On Wednesday, July 2, two brothers were killed when a train hit their vehicle as they tried to drive around the lowered barriers at a railroad crossing, the Volusia Sheriff’s Office said.
