Central Florida faces another searing day Sunday with the National Weather Service placing much of the region under another heat advisory, and conditions could worsen Monday.
The NWS in Melbourne said the heat advisory in effect from noon-7 p.m. for greater Orlando, Daytona Beach, the Space Coast and Okeechobee areas.
“Temperatures as high as the mid to upper 90s coupled with humidity will produce heat indices up to 106-110 degrees. Be sure to keep hydrated, take frequent breaks in the shade and wear light clothing,” the NWS warned.
The NWS said a strong ridge of high pressure over the southeast will keep rain chances much below normal through Monday, and more heat advisories are likely this week.
Monday could be the worst with near extreme heat conditions with heat indices of 112-114 possible across the north interior including Orlando.
“Residents and visitors are encouraged to take proper heat safety actions to prevent heat illness and know the signs of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. Stay cool, stay hydrated, stay informed,” the NWS stated.
