Ocala and Marion County are under a heat advisory from noon to 7 p.m. July 28 and an extreme heat watch for the afternoon and evening of July 29.
Forecasters warned temperatures could hit 98 degrees on July 28, with a heat index as high as 110. On July 29, the high will be near 98 and the heat index could reach 112.

“For the Heat Advisory, heat index values up to 112 expected,” the National Weather Service said. “For the Extreme Heat Watch, dangerously hot conditionswith heat index values up to 115 possible.”
The weather service also reported: “Heat-related illnesses increase significantly during extreme heat and high humidity events.”
