The Fourth of July will likely be a wet one for Central Florida as another day is forecast with a high chance of rain, according to the National Weather Service.
“Unfortunately, outdoor plans today will once again be greeted by increasing coverage of rain and storms by afternoon and evening,” forecasters with NWS Melbourne said. “The overall pattern is essentially unchanged from the last couple of days.”
The region has an 80% chance for precipitation that will peak from 3-7 p.m.
“Lingering rain areas and embedded thunder will persist after sunset though the intensity should be on the decline,” the NWS stated.
Similar conditions hit the area on Thursday including some places seeing up to 4 inches of rain.
“This is a reasonable worst-case scenario that persists for today`s storms as well,” forecasters said. “A few wind gusts from 35-45 mph have a low chance of accompanying the strongest storms.”
The highest rain threat could be along the I-4 corridor again in the late afternoon and early evening.
With the cloud cover, though, highs will be in the upper 80s, although humidity will bring the heat indices into the mid to upper 90s.
