Over 100 Corvettes will soon roll into McAlester for an event sure to thrill car enthusiasts.
The Heart of Oklahoma Corvette Club will come to McAlester for its second annual Height of Summer Indoor Corvette Show at the Southeast Expo Center July 26.
The Heart of Oklahoma is a non-profit 501©(3) organization. The corvette shows allow them to raise money for charities, according to David Finley, the show director and vice president of the Heart of Oklahoma Corvette Club.
“The best way to raise the most money is to have an event, and most Corvette clubs hold an annual Corvette show,” Finley said.
This year’s charities are Autism Oklahoma, The Tyler Buck Strong Foundation and McAlester Regional Health Center Foundation. The show gives Corvette lovers the chance to show their Corvettes to the public and their friends, but it really the help support these charities.
“It’s a wonderful organization, and we’re proud of what we’ve accomplished,” Finley said.
Although this makes the second Corvette show, it is their first show in McAlester.
“It’s an excellent venue and well located,” Finley said about the Southeast Expo Center. “We’re happy to be there.”
The organization reached out to the City of McAlester and the Southeast Expo Center in December 2024 about the event and has enjoyed working with them. They have been greeted with warm treatment whenever they come to McAlester for events.
This year, they wanted to stay in Oklahoma. McAlester is perfectly situated in Oklahoma to where people can easily come. The event will bring participants from seven states with the farthest being Colorado.
Finley said 23 members of the organization will judge the event. Corvettes will be judged based on cleanliness only.
Along with the Corvette show, there will be a vendors room with an assortment of products. There will also be a silent auction of donated items. For the silent auction, participants must be there to pay at 2 p.m. when it ends in order to receive their items.
The event will start at 8:30 a.m. Saturday, July 26, and go to 3 p.m. when the awards start. The price of admission is $5 per person. It will take place in the event arena.
“If you’re not a Corvetter now, then be prepared to become one,” Finley said.
