Does a haystack dinner sound enticing? Head on over to NorthWood High School today and stop in at the cafeteria for a fundraising meal that will help raise funds for the NorthWood Red Regiment. — Tuckhill Farm, located at 13878 C.R. 38, will be presenting a Market Day event on Saturday, from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. There, shoppers can get an early start on some unique gift ideas, while supporting local artisans. — There is a brand new StoryWalk to enjoy along the walking path of Memorial Park. This feature, brought to life by the Wakarusa Public Library, allows guests to enjoy a tale while strolling through the beauty of the park. Currently, the featured story is “Hello, Autumn!” by Shelley Rotner. The Memorial Park is located behind Wakarusa Elementary School.
— The Wakarusa Fire Department will be hosting its annual Pancake and Sausage Breakfast on Sept. 27 at the Wakarusa Fire Station, 301 E. Waterford St., from 6-10 a.m. This all-you-can-eat meal is priced at $12 for adults, $7 for children and grades K-5, and free of charge for preschool aged children and younger. Carry out options are also available.
— Join in the tailgating experience that is coming to Wakarusa on Sept. 27, when the Notre Dame Fighting Irish will take on Arkansas. From 10 a.m. until 8 p.m., the festivities will be kicking off in the downtown square, with the big screen set for the noon start time of the game. There will also be music beginning at 5 p.m., as well as a chili cook-off, a cornhole challenge, kids activities, and mechanical bull riding. From 10 a.m. until 2 p.m., Doc’s Pavilion will be the setting for the first ever Senior Resource Fair. There will be various representatives on hand from such organizations as assisted living communities, elder lawyers, financial institutions, and more. There will also be entertainment from 12:30-2 p.m., as well as food and cold beverages, and there will also be door prizes. Everyone is welcome to visit this event, and it is free of charge.
