The Champlain Valley Fair is in its second and final week at the expo center in Essex Junction.
Vermont’s largest annual event opened on Friday, Aug. 22 and is slated to close its barn doors on Sunday, Aug. 31. Around 120,000 visitors over 10 days are expected to walk the fairgrounds, partaking in rides, live music, vendors, carnival food, exhibits and myriad other classic fair experiences.
But what kind of weather should visitors anticipate this week and upcoming weekend? The weather is expected to be mostly or partly sunny for a majority of the remaining six fair days, but less humid, cooler and potentially rainier than last weekend, according to forecasts from the National Weather Service in Burlington. Temperatures will mostly hover in the mid to upper 60s, occasionally rising into the lower 70s.

Tuesday, Aug. 26
Fair hours: noon-10 p.m.
Meteorologists predict Tuesday will be mostly sunny with some cloud coverage and a 20% chance of showers between noon and 4 p.m. Temperatures will hover between the mid to upper 60s for most of the day, peaking at 70 degrees around 3 p.m. Humidity will likely be low. Temperatures should drop below 60 degrees around 9 p.m.
Wednesday, Aug. 27
Fair hours: noon-10 p.m.
Wednesday is also expected to be mostly sunny and boast temperatures between the mid to upper 60s for most of the day, peaking at 71 degrees around 3 p.m. The chance of rain is slim. Humidity will be low.
Thursday, Aug. 28
Fair hours: noon-10 p.m.
Thursday is predicted to be partly sunny for most of the day, with a 30%-50% chance of showers after 2 p.m. Temperatures will sit between the mid to upper 60s for most of the day, peaking at 70 degrees around 3 p.m. and dropping below 60 degrees after 9 p.m. Humidity will be low.
Friday, Aug. 29
Fair hours: noon-10 p.m.
Friday is partly sunny, with a 30%-50% chance of showers between noon and 9 p.m., after which chances drop to 10%-20%. There is also a slight chance (10%-20%) of thunderstorms before 1 p.m. Temperatures will hover between the mid to upper 60s throughout the day, peaking at 66 degrees around 5 p.m. and dropping into the 50s after 8 p.m. Humidity is low.
Saturday, Aug. 30
Fair hours: 10 a.m.-11 p.m.
Saturday is mostly sunny, with a slight chance of rain between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Chances of rain rise to 30%-50% between 2 and 7 p.m. Temperatures throughout the day are in the mid to upper 60s, peaking at roughly 69 degrees around 3 p.m. and dipping below 60 degrees after 8 p.m. Humidity is low.
Sunday, Aug. 31
Fair hours: 10 a.m.-11 p.m.
Sunday is expected to be the warmest day out of the six, boasting mostly sunny skies and a peak temperature of 74 degrees at 4 p.m. However, temperatures will mostly hover in the mid to upper 60s. Chances of rain are slim and humidity is low.
