DOVER TOWNSHIP ‒ Hog Heaven of Dover, 6557 Columbia Road NW, will be open during construction following an incident on the afternoon of Sept. 1, when a pickup crashed into the restaurant.
“Please bear with our mess out front as we work to get it all cleaned up. Please park beside or behind the building for now,” the business said on its Facebook page.
A pickup truck crashed into Hog Heaven of Dover on the afternoon of Sept. 1. Hog Heaven will remain open while repairs are made to the building.
The crash occurred at 2:26 p.m. Sept. 1, according to Trooper Matthew Clapper with the New Philadelphia post of the Ohio Highway Patrol.
A 2024 Chevrolet Silverado, driven by Ronald Hrouda, 72, Newbury, Ohio, was traveling southbound on Columbia Road when it attempted to make a left turn into the restaurant, Clapper said.
At the same time, a 2021 Dodge Ram 3500, driven by Kyler Shetler, 23, of Dover, was traveling northbound on Columbia Road. Shetler swerved to avoid being struck and went off the right side of road, struck the sign for Hog Heaven, two parked vehicles and the restaurant itself, Clapper said.
There were no injuries inside of Hog Heaven, because no one was sitting by the wall that was struck. The two parked vehicles were unoccupied at the time.
Clapper said Shetler sustained an injury to his leg but was not treated.
Hrouda was cited for failure to yield while turning left.
