(Texas Scorecard) – Officials at the U.S. Department of Homeland Security announced the arrest of an illegal alien in Houston on charges of kidnapping and assault after video evidence from a doorbell camera showed him abducting a woman off the street.
Jose Armando Carcamo-Perdomo, who is unlawfully present in the U.S. from Honduras, was arrested by local law enforcement and is believed to be part of a sex-trafficking ring.
Reports indicate that the abducted woman was found by deputies with the Harris County Sheriff’s Office on July 14 after a 911 call reported a woman screaming for help from a trailer house.
Upon questioning her, law enforcement discovered that she was left locked in a room without food and water for five days. She also reported being punched, tied up, and sexually assaulted.
After an attempt to escape, she was locked in a bedroom closet for three days before law enforcement found her.
“This accused kidnapper and suspected sex trafficker was just one of the countless criminal illegal aliens who inexplicably had their removal proceedings terminated by the Biden Administration and were allowed to remain in the country,” said DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin.
“Thanks to the leadership of President Trump and Secretary Noem, criminal illegal aliens are being locked up and will no longer be allowed to terrorize American communities. Our message is clear: criminals are not welcome in the United States,” she added.
According to DHS, Perdomo entered the U.S. in 2020 and was released by the Biden administration after his removal proceedings were terminated in September 2023.
In accordance with the Laken Riley Act, signed by President Donald Trump soon after taking office, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement issued a detainer upon Perdomo’s arrest to ensure he will not be released back into American communities.
