OXFORD – An early morning altercation outside a downtown Oxford bar ended with an intoxicated man assaulting police who were trying to de-escalate the situation.
Police officers assigned to the Downtown Unit on May 22 encountered a male causing a disturbance outside of the Blind Pig Pub on North Lamar Boulevard, just north of the Square. As officers tried to diffuse the situation, the male resisted arrest, injuring two officers in the process.
Joseph Tyler Boothroyd, 23, was arrested for aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer, simple assault, resisting arrest and public intoxication.
