Answer : A state Department of Transportation spokesperson emailed responses to these questions Thursday :
“Once an EV is fully charged, the charger will shut off and an idle fee of $0.25 per 15-minute interval will be applied while the vehicle remains connected to the charger. There will be a 15-minute grace period.”
As for the second question, he said, “to ensure maximum availability to multiple users, the charging time is limited to 12 hours per charging session, which equals 60 kilowatts, at a cost of $34.20 between 5 p.m. to 9 a.m. or $26.40 between 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. After 12 hours or once the vehicle is fully charged, the charger will shut off and an idle fee of $0.25 per 15-minute intervals will be applied while the vehicle remains connected to the charger. There will be a 15-minute grace period.”
In addition, the airport’s standard parking rates, which are separate from the electricity charging rates, would accrue for as long as the EV is parked in the stall.
Q : I wasn’t able to find any updates regarding the Clarice Yamaguchi murder trial. It was scheduled for Aug. 11, 2025, but I haven’t come across any information about the outcome. Has the trial been postponed or rescheduled ?
A : Yes, the jury trial of two men accused of killing the 66-year-old Waipahu woman in Las Vegas on Dec. 31, 2021, was pushed back a year because one of the defendants switched lawyers. It’s now scheduled for Sept. 8, 2026, according to the Clark County Clerk’s office.
Yamaguchi was a victim in a string of armed robberies that Nevada authorities say were committed by Jesani Carter, now 23, and Jordan Ruby, now 21, who face multiple murder, robbery and other felony charges and have been held without bail in the Clark County Detention Center. Prosecutors have said they intend to seek the death penalty.
Authorities linked the defendants to multiple armed robberies in casino or mall parking structures on Dec. 30-31, 2021, two of which were fatal. Yamaguchi, who had been visiting Las Vegas with her husband, was shot to death in the parking garage of the Fashion Show Mall, where the couple had gone to shop in the early afternoon of New Year’s Eve, before their intended return to Hawaii that night, according to news reports at the time.
