Aug. 11—The city of Jamestown was granted a $2 million loan through the Drinking Water State Revolving Fund for its water main replacement project.
The $2 million loan will be used to replace aging cast-iron water mains on 1st and 4th Avenue and Business Loop West in Jamestown. The upgrades will reduce the need for repairs and improve system reliability.
The State Revolving Fund programs are jointly administered by the North Dakota Department of Environmental Quality and the North Dakota Public Finance Authority and support critical water infrastructure.
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency provides part of the SRF Programs funding, which offers below-market interest rate loans to political subdivisions for financing projects authorized under the Clean Water Act and Safe Drinking Water Act. SRF programs operate nationwide to provide funding to maintain and improve the infrastructure that protects vital water resources.
Loans are awarded to projects listed on the North Dakota Department of Environmental Quality project priority list based on project eligibility and repayment ability.
