Jul. 19—July 19, 2015 — The Bemidji City Council will host a joint meeting with the Bemidji School Board to seek an agreement on street improvements as part of the project to build a new elementary school near Bemidji Middle School. The debate will center on two roundabouts, with the goal of handling the increased traffic.
July 19, 2000 — Cuts in the number of flights by Mesaba Airlines have left regional airport officials doubtful about the commitment of Northwest Airlines to the Fly Local Program. Flights from the Bemidji Airport have been decreased to five per day, despite Mesaba airlines use being up 5.5 percent this year.
July 19, 1975 — Bagley pilot John Hanauer’s passion for planes led to the acquisition of two gliders — an elementary and an intermediate trainer. Hanauer is a licensed instructor who hopes to sign up a number of students and train them in the art of gliding, as the closest gliding school is the University of North Dakota.
July 19, 1925 — An insect mounting exhibit and Best Beltrami Insect collection contest are being held at the State Teachers College. The exhibit has been prepared by members of the Nature Study classes under the direction of Professor James M. McArthur of New Orleans, a member of the summer school faculty.
