Junk-removal service expanding into Frederick

Must read

A junk removal service with local offices in Hagerstown and Pennsylvania will soon open another in Frederick.

The Two Men and a Junk Truck business has been serving Frederick for about six years out of its Hagerstown office, but is preparing to open an office on Monocacy Boulevard in about two months, Bobby Simpson, one of the local owners, said in an interview last week.

The company provides furniture removal, disaster cleanup, appliance removal, clean-out services, and more.

Simpson and his partner Bryan Payne started as a franchise of the Two Men and a Truck moving service about six years ago, and thought junk hauling would be a natural extension of the business, Simpson said.

“It just kind of fits into our model,” he said.

Two Men and a Junk Truck has local offices in Hagerstown and Chambersburg, Pa., and is hoping to begin serving Martinsburg, W.Va., next summer, along with the new Frederick office, he said.

The company offers an online portal for booking appointments, and dumpsters, as well as just hauling away junk, Payne said.

For now, they’re serving Frederick out of the Hagerstown office. The Monocacy Boulevard location should be open by the late summer, Simpson said.

Clinics team up to better serve patients

Green Valley Therapy and Frederick County Pediatrics, both in New Market, have formed a partnership to expand behavioral health services in the New Market area.

Frederick County Pediatrics has provided pediatric services for 15 years. It has added therapy services in recent years to serve a need, according to a press release announcing the partnership.

Green Valley Therapy began operating in 2023.

The partnership helps fill a gap in accessible pediatric behavioral health services, according to the press release.

Families on the Frederick County Pediatrics wait list for therapy will receive calls from the Green Valley Therapy team to schedule appointments.

Green Valley’s three therapists can currently see about 40 clients a week, and hope to add 15 to 20 hours of services, Kelly Jarvis of the clinic wrote in an email Tuesday.

The organization’s offices in Boonsboro and downtown Frederick are also growing, she wrote.

They are currently hiring for a child/teen therapist for the Boonsboro office and part-time adult therapists for each of the New Market and Frederick offices.

Preferra launches online job bank

The Frederick-based Preferra Insurance Company has started a free online job bank to help social workers and human service workers find new jobs.

The initiative is in response to recent federal job cuts, as well as Medicaid cuts that have affected community mental health centers and children’s hospitals, according to a press release from the company.

Preferra has offered liability insurance to social workers, mental health professionals, and behavioral health specialists since 2012, according to the release.

Users of the job center can search and apply for jobs, post resumes, and get personalized alerts when jobs match their skills and experience.

They can also get advice on networking, resume building, leadership skills, and preparing for interviews, and explore career trends, salary data, and qualification requirements to help them make the next step in their careers.
