Must read

An Appleton Kwik Trip shopper is $100,000 richer after a winning Powerball ticket was sold at the store, according to Wisconsin Lottery.

The ticket was sold at the Kwik Trip at 4085 E. Calumet St. for the Sept. 10 drawing. The ticket matched four of five numbers, 2-24-45-53-64, and the Powerball, 5. The ticket also included the $1 Power Play option, which turned a $50,000 win into a $100,000 prize because of the 2X multiplier.

According to Wisconsin Lottery, the Appleton Kwik Trip has previously sold winning lottery tickets worth $132,000 and $50,000, and winning scratch tickets worth $100,000 and $30,000.

The odds of winning the Powerball jackpot are 1 to 292,201,338, while the odds of winning a $50,000 Powerball prize are 1 to 913,130.

This is another recent instance of a winning Powerball ticket showing up in the Appleton area, as a ticket worth $2 million was sold at a Festival Foods in Buchanan back in July. In the past five Powerball drawings, Wisconsin has had a total of 18 winning tickets that won more than $50,000.

The ticket-holder has 180 days from the draw date to claim their prize. Wisconsin Lottery retailers who sell winning tickets over $599 receive a 2% incentive reward, up to $100,000.

Powerball drawings are at 9:59 p.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays. If a ticket is bought after 9 p.m. on the day of the drawing, it’ll be issued for the next drawing.
