In celebration of National Car Care Month in April, Lake Area Technical College is offering free car inspections to help ensure vehicles are in peak condition for the warmer months ahead.
The event will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, April 12, at the Lake Area Tech’s Automotive Technology building located at 13th Street Northeast, Watertown, according to a release.
Automotive Department supervisor Thor Green said proper vehicle maintenance is important heading into the spring and summer seasons.

“Spring is the perfect time to make sure your vehicle is running smoothly,” Green said in a release. “Our students, under the guidance of experienced instructors, will conduct a comprehensive inspection to check essential areas like fluid levels, belts, hoses, lights, and overall vehicle condition. It’s a great way to prepare your vehicle for the road – and it’s completely free.”
Each inspection typically takes 15 to 20 minutes. In previous years, between 60 and 80 vehicles were checked during the four-hour event. The inspections are available for all types of vehicles including cars, trucks and pickups. While no repairs are made on-site, participants will receive a detailed inspection sheet to help them understand any issues that may require further attention at a shop of their choice.
“Routine inspections, particularly in the spring and fall, can help prevent costly repairs down the road and ensure your vehicle’s safety,” Green said in a release. “We encourage everyone to take advantage of this no-cost opportunity to ensure your vehicle is ready to hit the road.”
