Lakeville resident David Strickland is the first $1 million prize winner in the Massachusetts State Lottery’s new “$25,000,000 Mega Money” instant scratch ticket.
Strickland chose to receive his winnings in one lump cash sum, taking home $650,000 before taxes, according to the lottery. State lottery winners can chose to either receive a one time sum or to receive multiple payments spread out over time.
According to a lottery written release, Strickland “has never taken a vacation before but plans to change that by putting his winnings towards a trip to Las Vegas.”
The winning ticket was purchased at Bristol County Wine and Spirits at 128 Myricks St., Berkley. The store receives a $10,000 bonus for the sale of the ticket.
