Jul. 16—According to the Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT), motorists should expect lane closures on Interstate 65 on two upcoming nights for rehabilitation of the Tennessee River bridges.
From 6 p.m. Thursday to 5 a.m. Friday and again from 6 p.m. Sunday to 5 a.m. Monday, subcontractors will implement single-lane closures for work on bridge rails and guardrails, weather permitting. Both nights, contractors will work on the northbound bridge first, then shift to the southbound bridge.
ALDOT currently anticipates the completion of the $23.7 million Tennessee River bridges rehabilitation this fall. The project includes repairing concrete and cleaning, painting and repairing structural steel on the 50-year-old bridges. The project remains ahead of schedule, ALDOT said.
