The University of Maryland Extension is hosting pasture walks this summer and fall. The events are designed for grazers, livestock owners and industry personnel, according to a community announcement.
An event will take place at 5 p.m. Sept. 9 at Porch View Farm in Woodbine, Maryland. Discussions will focus on silvopasture, rotational grazing with mixed species and soil health amendments.
Another pasture walk is set for 4 p.m. Oct. 15 at Wilson Dowell Farms in Owings, Maryland. Participants will learn about grazing management, maximizing grazing days and multi-species management.
The final event will be held at 3 p.m. Nov. 13 at the Western Maryland Research and Education Center in Keedysville. The discussion will cover mixed-species grazing and extending grazing with winter annuals and stockpiled forage.
Registration is free but required for each event. Interested individuals can register online or by calling 301-432-2767. All events will be held outdoors, so attendees are encouraged to dress appropriately.
