A 54-year-old man died after a 41-year-old acquaintance allegedly assaulted him during an argument Saturday night in a South Beretania Street store parking lot, Honolulu police said.
Officers responded to an assault call at the Safeway parking lot at 1234 S. Beretania St., at about 10 :30 p.m. Witnesses reported that the two men were arguing when the suspect pushed the victim in the chest, causing him to fall backward and hit his head on a curb, according to a Honolulu Police Department summary.
The victim was transported in critical condition to Queen’s Medical Center where he died, police said.
The suspect was arrested for suspicion of second-degree murder.
Police said the investigation in ongoing and charges will be sought with the city Department of the Prosecuting Attorney.
