A man was stabbed to death during a fight in west Phoenix, Phoenix police confirmed.
Around 5:10 p.m. April 7, officers were called to the scene of a fight near 59th Avenue and Indian School Road, according to police. When they arrived, one man was found with at least one stab wound. The man was taken to the hospital but died of his injuries, police said.
The suspect fled the scene, but police were able to find and arrest the man, identified as 35-year-old Michael Espinoza. According to police, after the fight with the man he stabbed, Espinoza also threatened other people in the area with the knife that he used in the stabbing.
Espinoza was booked into jail on suspicion of multiple charges, including murder and aggravated assault.
The name of the man who died had not yet been identified, as of April 7. Police said additional details related to the incident remain part of the ongoing investigation.
