Apr. 13—A man was arrested after allegedly stabbing his wife to death while she was babysitting on Saturday.
Servando Lujan, 47, of Santa Fe, is charged with an open count of murder and child abuse.
He is being held at the Santa Fe County Adult Detention Center.
At about 4:30 p.m., New Mexico State Police responded to a call of a stabbing death in the 3900 block of Agua Fria Road, near Agua Fria Street.
Officers learned Minerva Marquez Dominguez, 46, had been stabbed, State Police spokesperson Wilson Silver said in a news release. When officers arrived, they received a clothing description of a possible suspect before finding a man — later identified as Lujan — with blood on his hands, police said.
Emergency medical services personnel tried life-saving measures on Marquez Dominguez, Silver said.
Marquez Dominguez had been babysitting a relative’s child when she got into an argument with Lujan who got a knife and stabbed her while the child was in a nearby stroller, police said.
After the incident, Lujan called a family member and told them he killed his wife, Silver said.
“This incident remains under investigation by the New Mexico State Police Investigations Bureau,” he said.
