Man arrested after ‘brazen’ daylight killing in Minneapolis originally appeared on Bring Me The News.
Police are investigating a second fatal shooting in south Minneapolis on Saturday, which MPD Chief Brian O’Hara said was a “brazen” daylight killing.
The latest shooting happened at Lake Street and Grand Avenue South just after 1 p.m., with police arriving to find a man in his 40s gravely wounded.
Despite lifesaving efforts by medics, he died at the scene.
“Preliminary information indicates that the man was standing outside when a vehicle stopped, an occupant stepped out and fired shots, then returned to the vehicle before it left the area.”
The suspect was arrested around three hours later, with police find an armed man in his 20s on the 4700 block of Cedar Ave South.
He was taken into custody and booked into Hennepin County Jail for murder.
It follows another shooting at around 1 a.m. Saturday morning at 24th Street East and 18th Avenue South in the East Phillips neighborhood, which left a man in his 20s dead.
It also marks the third fatal shooting in two days in Minneapolis, after a killing at Lyndale Avenue South and Franklin in Lowry Hill early Friday.
“This shooting in broad daylight is a level of brazen violence that we cannot tolerate,” said Chief O’Hara of the latest killing.
“I am grateful for the outstanding work of our incredibly dedicated Minneapolis police officers that resulted in an arrest. Our homicide investigators are still working diligently to piece together all that occurred, and we are still asking anyone with information about this tragedy to come forward. Sharing what you know is an effective way to stand up against this kind of senseless violence.”
