Man arrested near Lake Redding Park accused of stabbing near Civic Auditorium: Police

A man on parole for assault with a deadly weapon was arrested Sunday night for allegedly stabbing another man near the Redding Civic Auditorium, police said.

Police were dispatched to the vicinity of the Posse Grounds boat ramp behind the Civic around 8:45 p.m. Sunday.

When they go there, officers located a man with a stab wound to his lower neck. The man was taken to the hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries, the Redding Police Department said on a post on its Facebook page.

Police did not identify the stabbing victim.

The man was able to give authorities a description of the suspect and officers later found the man, Jason Wiebusch, 48, in the area of Lake Redding Park, police said.

In addition to being on parole, police said Wiebusch had a parole warrant for his arrest.

He was booked into the Shasta County Jail and is being held without bail, according to the jail’s website.

Police ask anyone with information related to this incident to call investigators at 530-225-4200.
