An 18-year-old was killed May 8 in an accidental shooting on the East Side, police say.
Columbus police arrested Donnie Pernell Walls Jr., 18, and charged him with the reckless homicide of Terrance Spellman, 18, after an incident in an East Side apartment.
Police say they responded to reports of a gunshot victim around 8:20 p.m. on May 8. Spellman was transported to Mount Carmel East where he succumbed to gunshot wounds at 8:53 p.m.
During the investigation, police discovered that Spellman, Walls and another adult were in possession of multiple firearms while together in an apartment. Walls was allegedly recklessly handling a firearm, which he accidentally fired and fatally wounded Spellman, police allege.

After the shooting, Walls and the other adult allegedly took Spellman out to a parking lot and left him there, according to police. They then returned to the apartment where Walls called 911 and gave false information about the shooting, police said.
Walls was charged with reckless homicide and was taken to the Franklin County Jail.
