A man was shot and killed after forcing his way into his ex-girlfriend’s home in Phoenix, according to officials.
At about 11:25 p.m. on Oct. 10, officers received a report of a threat inside an apartment near 32nd Street and Southern Avenue, according to Sgt. Phil Krynsky with the Phoenix Police Department.
Officers arrived and found a woman and her two children standing outside the apartment. She told police she had shot her ex-boyfriend after he forced his way inside, according to Krynsky.
The man was found unresponsive with a gunshot wound inside the apartment. He was taken to the hospital by the fire department, where he died from his injuries, Krynsky confirmed.
Preliminary information suggested the couple had recently ended their relationship when the man came over and forced his way into the apartment, Krynsky said.
“After consulting with the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office on this case, the woman was released,” Krynsky said. “This investigation remains active. A charging decision will be made once the investigation is complete.”
