New Jersey Transit rail service was facing delays after a man was fatally struck by a train near Newark Liberty International Airport, according to NJ Transit spokesperson John Chartier.
The Northeast Corridor train 3924 departed Trenton Transit Center at 7:11 a.m. on July 16 and was scheduled to arrive at New York Penn Station at 8:23 a.m. At approximately 8 a.m., according to Chartier, the train struck and fatally injured a male trespassing near the airport.
There were no reported injuries to the 800 customers and crew on board the train.
Shortly after 10 a.m., NJ Transit rail service was facing 30-minute delays into and out of New York Penn Station, Chartier said. The accident is under investigation by the New Jersey Transit police.
Per a post from NJ Transit on X, rail tickets and passes are being cross-honored system-wide by PATH at Hoboken, Newark Penn Station and 33rd Street, New York.
