Man held under federal charges for nightspot fire also indicted for felony theft

A Crossville man being held in federal custody in connection with the arson fire that destroyed Bootlegger’s Bar has been indicted by the Cumberland County grand jury for felony theft.

Brandon Chance Jones, 27, who has listed multiple addresses in the Crossville area, was arrested for allegedly setting fire to the Hwy. 70 East nightspot inside the city, is now charged in state court with theft of property of $10,000 to $60,000.

The latest indictment accuses Jones of taking a 1985 White 2-155 dual wheel cab tractor belonging to a Cumberland County man.

Jones already faces charges of felon in possession of a weapon (rifle), evading arrest (felony with vehicle), evading arrest, leaving the scene of a property damage crash and driving on a revoked license, in addition to an arson charge in connection with the bar fire.

After being indicted in state court, Jones was indicted by a federal grand jury in Nashville with destruction of a building by means of fire. That case is pending in federal court.

All the state charges have been moved as prosecutors wait to see what takes place in federal court.

The state charges against Jones have been moved to Oct. 7, along with the indictments against defendants listed below, for arraignment.

Assaults

•Robby Joe Campbell, domestic assault (placed in fear) alleged on Dec. 3, 2024, and investigated by Cumberland County Sheriff’s Cpls. John Coley and Rod Jackson, Deputies Jake Brink, Jessica McCoy and Devyne Templeton and Lake Tansi Police Officer Larry Threet.

•Ryan Dewald Jones domestic assault (recklessly caused bodily harm) alleged on Jan. 11 and investigated by a host of CCSO and Crossville Police Department officers.

•Mark Joseph Stammen, aggravated assault (display of deadly weapon),, alleged on March 30 and investigated by CCSO and CPD.

Weapons

•Charles Seth Roberts, possession of a weapon (rifles and handguns) alleged on Oct. 23, 2024, and investigated by a host of CCSO and CPD officers.

Possession

•Patrick James Kincses, possession of more than 26 grams of meth with intent, possession of 15 grams or more of fentanyl/ANPPP and simple possession of psilocyn alleged on June 26 and investigated by CCSO deputies Caleb Charles, Holden Atkinson and Ethan Wilson.

•Also, Kincses, possession of drug paraphernalia alleged on June 13 and investigated by Deputy Caleb Charles.

•Charles Seth Roberts, possession of 26 grams of meth or more with intent and possession of .5 grams of fentanyl or greater, alleged on July 1 and investigated by CPD Lt. Jared South, Sgt. John Karlsven, Sgt. Keith Sadula, Det. Keyton Harthun and Sptl. Jessie Henson.

DUI/traffic

•Brian Dwight Turner, fourth offense DUI, DUI per se (blood/alcohol more than .15) and driving on a revoked license, alleged on Oct. 20, 2024, and investigated by Fairfield Glade Police Officers Logan Janow and Jake VanTrump.
