As police work to learn the motive behind a deadly shooting in the parking lot of a popular diner, family members of the victim are remembering their loved one.
David Gillespie said he couldn’t believe what he was seeing on the corner of Fleet and Perkerson roads near Lakewood Avenue — a crime scene in front of a local chicken shop.
It was there that Atlanta police said a man in his 50s was shot to death.
Gillespie told Channel 2’s Cory James that the person was his cousin.
“(He was) just a laid-back guy, always smiling, never ever find him in a bad mood,” Gillespie said. “It got me. Made me want to break down and cry.”
Police said they got the shooting call just before 6 p.m. Friday.
