Jul. 3—A man reportedly withstood three weeks of inferior showers before calling the police, complaining he was upset he left his $150 showerhead behind after moving out. He wanted officers to speak to his landlord about getting it back.
A neighbor was allegedly “being weird” and set a pile of clothes on fire in the middle of the street after doing burnouts earlier. Then, they walked up to someone’s driveway and yelled something and went back inside. Officers found a smoldering pile of debris and a woman who said her roommate’s ex-boyfriend was back.
Officers received a couple of calls about two teens walking around a neighborhood who were allegedly following children, throwing firecrackers at them and taunting them before leaving in a black truck. Officers spoke with the mother of the two teens, who reportedly said her children “did say some inappropriate things” but contended they were harassed by another parent who picked up one of the children involved. The youths involved had differing accounts of what occurred and it became yet another instance where officers had to parent the parents about their children’s behavior and to stop harassing each other.
Later, officers responded a call from a woman who claimed she managed a homeowners association and wanted to speak to an officer about kids in the neighborhood “making bad choices,” alleging she received complaints about a group of kids who were riding electric bikes on “non-e-bike” paths, doing jumps on park equipment, intimidating other kids and playing ding-dong-ditch. She said letters and emails sent to the owner of a house, which a resident had reportedly followed the kids home to, had gone unanswered.
A man airing up tires on a vehicle reportedly jumped into the driver’s seat when he saw an officer approaching. The officer told him to step out of the vehicle before he drove away. The man and his passenger both had suspended drivers’ licenses. The officer told them to call for a driver with a valid license, or else they would take the driver to jail if seen driving.
Another officer went to check out a vehicle idling in the middle of a lot and spoke to the driver, who also didn’t have a valid driver’s license. She reportedly said she felt sick and went inside to find something she had dropped. She was advised to get in the passenger seat and wait for someone who had a valid driver’s license to leave.
A pedestrian allegedly jumped in front of a vehicle and was struck.
A woman reportedly paid $250 to apply and look for a rental and the individual asked for gift cards as payment and told her to show up alone. Officers told her it could be a scam and to file a civil suit to recover the money.
Officers responded to a drunk driving call where a dark gray truck reportedly ran a red light, almost caused a collision, and was tailgating people and passing cars recklessly.
