Two people were arrested Wednesday after an investigation into narcotics distribution from a Hunt County residence led authorities to seize drugs, firearms and cash, officials said.
The Hunt County Sheriff’s Office said its narcotics unit began investigating in July after receiving information that controlled substances and marijuana were being sold from a home in the 10000 block of Gaillard Woods. Investigators determined that some of the drugs had been obtained by minors and that both Jeffery and Amanda Burton were aware of the narcotics activity inside the home, according to the sheriff’s office.
On Wednesday the Sheriff’s Office SWAT team executed a search warrant at the Burton residence. Inside, investigators reported seizing about 558 grams of controlled substances, 392 grams of marijuana, psilocybin mushrooms, THC products such as wax, gummies and vape pens, 23 firearms and $5,466 in cash.
Both Jeffery and Amanda Burton were taken into custody and charged with manufacturing and delivery of a controlled substance in Penalty Group 2/2-A greater than 400 grams, possession of a controlled substance in Penalty Group 1 greater than 4 grams but less than 200 grams, possession of marijuana greater than 5 pounds but less than 4 ounces, and endangering a child.
Bond for both was set at a total of $260,000.
