Medina police officers arrested a 33-year-old Medina man after responding to multiple related calls within 10 minutes on July 25, including one for a man who was shot twice and hospitalized.

Police arrested the man and charged him with felonious assault in connection with the shooting, according to a Medina Police Department news release.

Two incidents occurred minutes, less than one mile apart

Officers first arrived at about 10:37 p.m. at a home on Circle Drive after a caller said a man she knew smashed the rear window of her vehicle and fled on foot, police said.

Witnesses reported that the individual who smashed her car was at the home earlier that day and was told to leave the property.

Dispatchers received a second call around 10:44 p.m. for a man shot near Baxter Street and Lafayette Road, less than one mile away from the Circle Drive home. Police found a man with two apparent gunshot wounds walking on the sidewalk in front of a home on Baxter Street.

He was taken to Medina Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

Shortly after the shooting, an injured man covered in blood arrived at the Circle Drive home on an electric bicycle and was detained by officers. Police recovered a 9 mm handgun.

Detectives later executed search warrants and collected physical evidence like the firearm, spent shell casings and clothing.
