MGM Springfield releases March gambling take

SPRINGFIELD — MGM Springfield reported $25.5 million in gross gambling revenue from both slot machines and table games in March.

That’s up from $20.9 million in February but roughly in line with the $25.2 million in gross gambling revenue reported a year earlier in March 2024, according to figures released Tuesday by the Massachusetts Gaming Commission.

All three of the state’s casinos, Plainridge Park Casino, MGM Springfield and Encore Boston Harbor. together generated approximately $105.10 million in gross gaming revenue, the gaming commission said in its monthly report.

To date, Massachusetts has collected approximately $2.045 billion in total taxes and assessments from the casino operations of Plainridge, MGM and Encore since the respective openings of each gaming facility.

In addition to the casinos, the state’s seven mobile or online sports wagering licensees and the three in-person licensees generated about $52.12 million in taxable sports wagering revenue in March when college basketball’s men’s and women’s championship tournament are on.

MGM Springfield’s in-person sports betting parlor reported a handle of $1.65 million in March. The handle is the total amount bet. MGM’s in-person sportsbook reported a handle of $1.3 million a month earlier and a handle of $1.6 million in March 2024.
