Indian Trails this week announced that its Michigan Flyer service, which runs from East Lansing to Detroit Metropolitan Airport, will add additional daily trips starting in August.
Indian Trails said it conducted a survey in December 2024 and found, that customers’ “overwhelming answer was to expand the schedule to offer more frequent runs between East Lansing, Whitmore Lake, Ann Arbor and Detroit Metro Airport.”
Michigan Flyer will expand to 14 daily roundtrips on Aug. 25. Customers can book the new service times now through the “Book a Trip“ feature on the MichiganFlyer.com website, Indian Trails said.

What is the Michigan Flyer?
Michigan Flyer offers daily roundtrips each between East Lansing and Detroit Metropolitcan Airport, with pickup/dropoff locations in Whitmore Lake and Ann Arbor. Michigan Flyer buses allow business travelers, families, students, and vacationers the ability to leave their personal vehicles behind and travel to the airport without having to locate a parking facility.Michigan Flyer was founded by Indian Trails and Okemos Travel in 2006. Where does Michigan Flyer pick up, drop off?
At the western end of the company’s route, Michigan Flyer travelers can be picked up at the Marriott Hotel in downtown East Lansing, 333 Albert Ave.
Midway locations include the Whitmore Lake 8 Mile Road MDOT park and ride lot, 665 W. 8 Mile Road, and the Ann Arbor Blake Transit Center, 328 S. Fifth Ave.

What time does Michigan Flyer offer trips?
Pickup times in East Lansing include 2 a.m., 3:30 a.m., 5 a.m., 6:30 a.m., 7:45 a.m., 9:15 a.m., 10:45 a.m., 12:15 p.m., 2 p.m., 3:15 p.m., 4:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m.
Pickups at Whitmore Lake are 1 hour, 5 minutes later. Pickups in Ann Arbor are 1 hour, 15 minutes to 1 hour, 25 minutes later than East Lansing. Dropoffs at Detroit Metro are about 2 hours, 15 minutes after the East Lansing pickups.
Traveling from Detroit Metro’s Evans Terminal, pickup times are 6:15 a.m., 7:15 a.m., 9 a.m., 10:45 a.m., 12:15 p.m., 2 p.m., 3:15 p.m., 4:30 p.m., 5:45 p.m., 7 p.m., 8:15 p.m. and 9:45 p.m. Pickups at the McNamara Terminal are 15 minutes later.
Ann Arbor stops are about 1 hour after the Evans Terminal pickup. Travelers to Whitmore Lake will arrive about 1 hour, 15 minutes after the Evans pickup, and those heading to East Lansing will arrive about 2 hours, 15 minutes after the Evans pickup.
What’s new for daily routes?
Most notably, Michigan Flyer’s last daily westbound run from Detroit Metro will be an hour later. It will depart the Evans Terminal at 10:45 p.m. and the McNamara Terminal at 11 p.m. giving travelers the option of reserving flights that arrive at DTW later in the evening and are often less costly than earlier flights, Indian Trails said.
Similarly, the last eastbound departure from East Lansing will be at 6:30 p.m. instead of the current 5:30 p.m., allowing college students and others to choose Michigan Flyer for commuting between East Lansing and Ann Arbor.

The new, later routes start Aug. 25, but they can be booked online now.

How much does Michigan Flyer cost?
A single ticket for an adult from East Lansing to Detroit Metro is $34. Tickets from Whitmore Lake or Ann Arbor are less expensive.
Does Michigan Flyer connect with other services?
At DTW, Michigan Flyer serves both the McNamara and Evans Terminals, which allows passengers from the East Lansing, Whitmore Lake, and Ann Arbor areas to connect with downtown Detroit from the airport. Detroit Air Xpress or DAX, which connects Detroit with Detroit Metro Airport, is operated by Michigan Flyer and connects with DAX at the airport.
