Michigan is expected to see marginal to enhanced risks of severe weather on Wednesday, June 18, and officials say the worst will hit mid- to southern areas in the Lower Peninsula.
“Thunderstorms will be possible Wednesday through Wednesday evening. Storms early in the day are not expected to be severe. More widespread storms will develop late Wednesday afternoon and move through Wednesday evening. These storms are likely to become severe,” the National Weather Service said.
Statewide hazardous weather outlooks are in place to heed the main threats, including isolated tornadoes, strong winds ranging from 20-70 mph and large hail.
As of June 17, southern areas stretching from Lansing to Ann Arbor and down to Coldwater are expected to see an enhanced risk of severe weather. This means the storms generated in this area have greater chances for being more persistent and widespread.
Any level of severe weather could cause damage, however, and should be taken seriously.
