Must read

Where do you want to go to college and why?

I have enrolled at University of Oklahoma where I plan to get a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.

What is your list of accomplishments including scholarships received?

My accomplishments include: Current President of the Indianola FFA chapter, current President of the Indianola Senior Class, current officer in the Indianola National Honor Society chapter, current leader of the Indianola FCA group, past member of the Indianola student counsel, current Captain of the Indianola Academic Team, current member of the Indianola Gifted and Talented chapter, directed the annual FFA food drive, directed the annual FFA senior citizen commodities drive, received numerous awards in the FFA participating in livestock showing, livestock judging, land judging, and public speaking. I have an unweighted GPA 4.0, weighted GAP 4.14, 32 ACT Score. I have received grants from Oklahoma’s Promise and FAFSA. I have received scholarships from University of Oklahoma, Oklahoma State University, Tulsa University, the Dee Goddard Memorial Achievement Award, the Durwood and FAye Scott Memorial Scholarship, and the Kennith and Linda Sherrill Ag Scholarship.

What drives you to succeed?

My drive to succeed has always been rooted in my urge to try and be the best I can be in everything I do in life. I’ve been told by so many great people that “If you’re going to do something, you might as well do the best you can”, and this philosophy has led me to try and reach my highest potential in everything I participate in. The way I see it, there will always be some regrets in life, but wishing I would have tried harder at something I did won’t be one of them.

Who inspires you to excel in school and why?

My dad and grandpa have always been very influential in how I perform in school by teaching me daily what it means to work hard and be responsible when people are expecting things from me. They taught me how to do things right the first time and be disciplined enough to do what needs to be done, even when things get tough.

What community activities are you involved in and what drives you to give back to the community?

I interact with the community through my church and also my FFA chapter, which holds an annual food drive and senior citizens commodities drive to help the less fortunate members of the community. All throughout my life, I have been supported by members of my community that helped me grow and develop into the person that I am today. Living in a small town has really shown me what a community is and how its members all support each other. It is my goal to simply carry on the long tradition of supporting each other in my community and helping the younger generations the same way people helped me.

What are your extracurricular activities and how do they improve your education?

One extracurricular activity that has helped me increase my education is being on the academic team. It has helped me both academically and socially by teaching me so many new things and showing me how to be a part of a team. Another extracurricular activity that has helped me is FFA. Not even considering the practical agricultural knowledge I learned, I overcame a deep fear of public speaking and learned how to face the everyday challenges of adult life.
