Must read

Jul. 1—A corrections officer at the Morgan County Jail was arrested Tuesday in connection with an ongoing investigation into illegal contraband, according to the Morgan County Sheriff’s Office, and fired from her job.

Hartselle resident Kimberly A. Woodruff, 58, was charged with promoting prison contraband in the third degree, a misdemeanor, and was booked into the Morgan County Jail in lieu of a $300 bond.

“Preventing illegal contraband is a never-ending battle for every jail in the country,” said Sheriff Ron Puckett. “Unfortunately, Morgan County is not exempt. I appreciate the ongoing work of our agents. It is always difficult when the evidence leads to a member of our Corrections team. However, we have a job to do, and we will do it.”

Promoting prison contraband in the third degree is a Class B misdemeanor under state law and is defined as unlawfully introducing or providing inmates with contraband that does not include controlled substances or weapons.
