A Scranton woman and her 18-year-old daughter face assault charges after the two got into an argument over cooking, police charge.
Taine Eustache, 18, and Rose Andree Eustache-Francois, 48, of 364 Ferdinand St., are charged with assault and harassment.
Eustache is also charged with felony strangulation.
According to the criminal complaint:
At about 5 p.m. on Tuesday, city officers were called to the Ferdinand Street residence for the report of a fight between mother and daughter.
When officers arrived, they spoke with Eustache, who said she was cooking in the kitchen when her mother came into the room and an argument started.
Eustache told police she threw water on the floor to distance herself from her mother.
Eustache-Francois then came toward her daughter and scratched her face.
Eustache responded by pushing her mother away.
It was then that Eustache-Francois bit her daughter’s finger, drawing blood.
Officers noted scratch marks on Eustache’s face and bite marks on her pinky.
Police then spoke with Eustache-Francois, who said her daughter threw food at her when she entered the kitchen.
Eustache-Francois said her daughter then placed both hands around her neck, preventing her from breathing for more than 10 seconds.
Officers noted redness and swelling around Eustache-Francois’ neck.
Eustache remains at Lackawanna County Prison in lieu of $5,000 bail.
Both women have preliminary hearings scheduled for 9:30 a.m. on Oct. 7 before District Judge George Seig.
