The Audie Murphy/American Cotton Museum will host longtime Civil War historian Ron Robinson at noon next Tuesday as part of its monthly Lunch Break Special program.
Robinson’s talk, titled “Lincoln and the Ladies in His Life,” will explore the influence of the women who shaped President Abraham Lincoln’s life – from his family to key political allies.
A student of the Civil War and Lincoln for more than six decades, Robinson grew up just 25 miles from Lincoln’s Springfield, Ill. home. He earned both bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Eastern Illinois University in Charleston, Ill.
His career has included 24 years in higher education administration at three universities, including what is now East Texas A&M University. He later served 20 years as president of the Richardson Economic Development Partnership and eight years as vice president of executive search at the SGR Corporation, specializing in placing economic development executives throughout the South and Southeast.
Robinson and his wife, Pat, have lived in Greenville since 2005. They have three children, seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
This month’s Lunch Break Special is sponsored by Sue Jones. Admission to the program is included with regular museum entry.
