The National Weather Service in Charleston issued a heat advisory for portions of Southeast Georgia. The warning will remain in effect until 8 p.m.
NWS expects the heat value to go up to 110 degrees. The organization warns that hot temperatures, coupled with humidity, may cause heat illness. Precautionary measures provided by NWS include drinking plenty of water, staying out of the sun and staying in air-conditioned rooms.
If you have to be outside, wear loose fitting clothing, limit strenuous activity to the morning or evening and take action immediately if you see or feel signs of a heat stroke.
Residents can cool off at all city of Savannah cooling and community centers until 8 p.m., and at pools, until 6 p.m.
