Some people like ice cream, and some people love ice cream.
Then there are people who really love ice cream — and “I Licked My Way Through NJ” is the event for them.
The annual ice cream tour, organized by New Jersey members of the North American Ice Cream Association, kicks off Friday, May 9. Ice cream lovers are invited to visit 14 shops across nine counties through Sunday, Aug. 31, earning free scoops along the way.
Booklets are available at each participating ice cream shop, and visitors can have theirs stamped at each one. Four stamps earns a free small scoop, eight stamps a medium, 12 stamps a large — and 14 earns an ice cream tour T-shirt.
Customers who visit every shop also can mail their booklet to Randy’s Homemade Ice Cream in Pompton Lakes for a chance to win one free ice cream treat per week for a year. The winner will be chosen on Sunday, Sept. 14.
