A trip to a convenience store turned into a $5 million payday for one lucky scratch-off lottery player in New Jersey.

“I didn’t think I won anything,” the winner told the New Jersey Lottery. “I checked it on a scanner and it said ‘Jackpot.’ I go home and I looked again. So many zeroes. It’s just such a blessing.”

The newest millionaire purchased the ticket at a 7-Eleven on Liberty Avenue in Hillside on June 8. The game was the $5,000,000 Fortune which costs $30 to play.

The $5,000,000 Fortune scratch-off began back in February and this is the first of three $5 million winning tickets to be claimed. The game offers prizes ranging from $50 to $10,000 with the three grand prizes.

Two other million-dollar winners

In addition to the $5 million last week, there was a $2 million winner in Monmouth County, a $1 million winner in Bergen County and a $600,000 ticket in Essex County.

  • The $2 million winning ticket for the Millionaire Maker scratch-off game was purchased at the Lakeside Food Store on Main Street in Matawan.

  • A $1 million ticket in the $1,000,000 Spectacular scratch-off was sold at the ShopRite Liquor on West Passaic Street in Rochelle Park.

  • The $600,000 winner in the Colossal Crossword game was sold at the 7-Eleven on Valley Street in South Orange.
